Due to the popularity of these events, this summer, the Big Sky Astronomy Club and Glacier National Park will be hosting FOUR star parties at the Visitors' Center at the summit of Going-To-The-Sun Road this year. The first event is tentatively set for Friday July 29, the second on Friday August 5, the third on Friday August 26 with the season finale scheduled for September 9. In the event of inclement weather on the scheduled night, the Park has an option to reschedule any of the events on the following night (Saturday).
Due to the limited amount of parking at the Visitors' Center, attendance at each event will be limited to ticket-holders. Each ticket will allow one vehicle and its occupants entrance to the event. Tickets will be available at various locations throughout the park as each of the event dates approach.
Attendees are treated to spectacular stargazing under beautiful, clear skies, completely unaffected by light pollution. The inky-black skies at Logan Pass allow the summer Milky Way to fully display its awesome grandeur as shown in this striking image by Visiting Astronomer Ray Stinson.
